Welcome to the Preshil Instrumental Music Program

We are delighted that your child is joining the Preshil Instrumental Music Program. Individual music tuition is an important part of the Preshil experience, providing students with the opportunity to develop their musical skills, creativity and confidence while learning from experienced professional musicians and educators.

Please complete one enrolment form for each instrument your child wishes to learn. Once your enrolment has been received, the Music Administrator and Head of Music will allocate a suitable tutor and arrange lesson scheduling. Wherever possible, requests for a preferred tutor will be accommodated.

Enrolment in the Instrumental Music Program is ongoing and will continue from year to year unless written notice of withdrawal is provided in accordance with the program's terms and conditions.

Terms & Conditions

Attendance at Lessons

Arlington Campus (10's and 11's): Students in the 10's and 11's are encouraged to make their own way to music lessons where possible. Tutors will collect younger students from their classrooms.
Year 7 Students: Year 7 students will receive support for their first term of lessons as they transition to managing their own schedules. Tutors will collect students who do not arrive on time during this period. Following the first term,students are expected to arrive at lessons independently and on time.
Secondary Students (Years 8–12): All other secondary students are expected to know their scheduled lesson times (posted onCompass) and arrive promptly.
Students who arrive late or miss their lesson without prior notice will be markedabsent, and the lesson willnot be rescheduled or refunded.

Lesson Details

You will receive confirmation of your child’s first lesson by phone or email—please allow up to10 business daysfor contact from a tutor.
Each term includeseight lessons, billed in advance. If lessons begin part-way through the term, they will bepro-ratedaccordingly.

Missed Lessons & Make-Up Policy

Make-up lessons will be offered at the tutor’s discretion when absences occur due to:

School-related activities (excursions, exams, camps).
Tutor illness.
Student absence, where sufficient notice is given.

Tutors will make all reasonable efforts to reschedule missed lessons, which may include offering alonger session. If a make-up lesson cannot be arranged, acredit will be appliedto your account.

Absences and Notifications

If your child will be absent, please notify their Instrumental Music Tutorbefore 8:30 amon the day of the lesson. If you are unable to contact the tutor directly, please notifyReception:

Reception staff will pass your message on to the relevant tutor.

Injury or Medical Considerations

If an injury prevents your child from playing their instrument, the tutor may continue lessons by focusing on music theory, musicianship or other appropriate learning activities during the recovery period.
If the injury is expected to prevent participation for more than two weeks, or the recovery timeframe is uncertain, families may choose to withdraw from lessons by providing four weeks' written notice to the relevant Music Administrator.
Please notify the relevant Music Administrator as soon as possible if your child is unable to participate in lessons due to injury.

Enrolment and Withdrawal

Enrolment in the Instrumental Music Program is ongoing and will automatically continue from year to year unless written notice of withdrawal is received.
To withdraw from the program, families must provide a minimum of four weeks' written notice to the relevant campus Music Administrator. Tuition fees remain payable during the notice period.
Withdrawals cannot be processed during a school term. Where notice is received during a term, the withdrawal will take effect from the commencement of the following term.

I understand that enrolment is an ongoing commitment and is considered ongoing from year to year unless notification of termination is provided. Lessons cannot be cancelled during term time and four weeks' written notice is required to the appropriate campus Music Administrator to terminate lessons. Termination of lessons will take effect from the following term. *
